Programming

Feminist Public Works focuses on programming that bring public attention and participation to addressing safety from a gender-based perspective. Here are our current programming areas:

SEPTA Ad Campaign  In Spring 2013, HollabackPHILLY (a project of Feminist Public Works) launched a small pilot ad campaign in the Philadelphia subway system to increase public understanding of the problem of street harassment. A year later, in Spring 2014, HollabackPHILLY launched a significantly expanded campaign, including bus shelters and subway platform ads. Anti-Street Harassment Week  Anti-Street Harassment Week is March 30th - April 5th 2014. Organizations all over the world will be planning actions. Here in Philly, we're launching an anti-street harassment ad campaign on SEPTA and having a dance party with Get Lucid! Comic Con Anti-Harassment Efforts Geeks for CONsent (a project of Feminist Public Works) is working to change the culture at comic conventions across the country. Street Harassment Comic Book HollabackPHILLY (a project of Feminist Public Works) published an amazing anti-street harassment comic book for use in school workshops. Safety Audits Safety audits are a UN-approved way of addressing gender-based harassment in public spaces. Philadelphia's City Council held a hearing in November 2013 and pledged support for a municipal safety audit. Human Trafficking HollabackPHILLY (a project of Feminist Public Works) held a TEDx-style conference in partnership with Temple University in February 2014. Workshops/Keynotes We are available for a variety of workshops and speaking engagements.
